Alex Clare – Too Close

Hinter einer Werbung für den Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) steckt ein mächtiges Stück Musik. Nämlich Too Close von Alex Clare, das zu Beginn doch sehr stark an Iron von Woodkid erinnert. Spätestens bei den eingebauten Dubstep Elementen wird der Song aber zu dem was er ist – einfach nur genial.

Wer Alex Clare zum ersten Mal im Video sieht, wird sicher verblüfft von dem rothaarigen Mann mit Bart und Barett sein – sieht er doch alles andere als jemand aus, der Dubstep und Electronic macht. Doch wie heißt es so schön – “Don’t judge a book by its cover!”. Was soviel heißt wie “Der Schein trügt.” Und im Fall von Alex Clare ganz besonders.

Alex Clare - Too Close

Der Londoner Sänger Alex Clare, oder auch früher bekannt als Alexander G. Muertos, veröffentlichte sein erstes Album The Lateness Of The Hour im Juli 2011 in Großbritannien. Produziert wurde es von Diplo und Switch. (Aufmerksame Leser werden die beiden sicher noch aus dem vorigen Post über Major Lazer kennen.)

Alex Clare wuchs mit den Jazz Platten seines Vaters auf und war zu Blues und Soul hingezogen, was sich jedoch aber in späteren Jahren zu Drum’n'Bass und U.K. Garage verlagerte. Während er in seiner Kindheit Trompete und Schlagzeug spielen lernte, legte er im Lauf der Zeit seinen Fokus auf Gitarre und Songwriting. Was sich bezahlt machte – eine Demoaufnahme sicherte ihm einen Vertrag bei Island Records in Großbritannien. Vor seinem Durchbruch datete er allerdings schon eine andere bekannte Sängerin – Amy Winehouse. Die Welt ist doch auch überall ein Dorf.
