Wer in den letzen Tagen ein Faible für Häschenkostüme entwickelt hat, der wird mit dem Video zu Happy I Don’t Count von The Loose Salute bestimmt hoch erfreut sein. Aber auch all jene, die auf der Suche nach einem Song für den Soundtrack der letzten warmen Spätsommertage sind, werden weder von den verträumten Folk Pop Melodien noch vom Video enttäuscht sein.
Der Drummer über den Song
Drummer Ian McCutcheon beschreibt ‘Happy I Don’t Count’, gegenüber Spinner.com als Geschichte eines Paares, das in der Vergangenheit eine Affäre hatte. Nach einigen Jahren treffen sie einander erneut für eine Nacht und tauschen ihre Geschichten aus. Während des Gespräches realisieren sie, dass sie sich immer noch lieben, aber sich ihre Leben in verschiedene Richtungen entwickelten. Sie sind zerrissen, aber sie bürgen dafür, dass sie Freunde bleiben und dabei nie wissen werden, was hätte sein können.
Getting Over Being Under
Vier Jahre nach ihrem Album Tuned To Love veröffentlichten ‘The Loose Salute’ mit Getting Over Being Under ihr zweites Album. Einflüsse wie die Westküste, Beach Boys und Nashville werden in den Melodien verewigt. Manchmal ein wenig schwermütig, manchmal niedergeschlagen, aber immer hoffnungsvoll. Songs wie So Out Of Time und Sister Corita haben definitiv Südstaaten Charakter. Der Kontrabass fehlt in keinem Song. Man würde fast nicht annehmen, dass hinter dieser Band vier Briten stehen.
